Sesame Green Beans

green beans, sesame seeds, soy sauce

These savory green beans are pan-fried with soy sauce and sesame oil and topped with crunchy sesame seeds. For the longest time, this was the only way our children would agree to eat greens 😄 Everything with soy and sesame just seemed so much more exciting! I don’t mind since that’s one of the easiest dishes to put together, with minimum ingredients and in no time. Serve these delicious green beans as a snack, a side dish or top them up with fried mince and pack into a lunchbox. They are equally good warm or brought down to the room temperature.

The Flavour Affair:

Green beans + soy sauce + sesame oil + sesame seeds

Green beans: long thin beans work best in this recipe since they take little time to cook

Sesame seeds: apart from adding a nice crunch, they are rich in fiber and are a nutritious source of plant protein. Although a combo of black and white seeds makes for an appealing presentation, you can also just use one type.

Soy sauce: a combination of light and dark soy sauce helps to achieve a good balance of taste and color.

How to make sesame green beans:

With just a handful of ingredients that you are very like to already have in your pantry, this is a fun and easy project. Simply wash and trim the beans and fry them in a mix of olive and sesame oil until they have softened. Add a splash of soy sauce for the last five minutes of cooking and top up with toasted sesame seeds.
